Uniform and Workwear Embroidery – Graphic Stitches
The Answers May Surprise You…
If you run or manage a business that needs uniforms or workwear for your team, it’s important to know what really matters when choosing them. Lucky for you, we’re here to help.
At Graphic Stitches, we’ve spent years working with all sorts of businesses on their uniforms, especially through our uniform and workwear embroidery services. Over time, we’ve identified a few key features that every high-quality uniform should have. And no, we’re not going to bore you with the usual tips like “make sure it’s comfortable” or “consider the cost” — those are pretty obvious, right?
Instead, here are some often overlooked but super important things to keep in mind:
1. Colours Matter More Than You Think
Picking a uniform colour might seem straightforward, but it can get tricky. When we embroider logos, we often see the uniform colour clash with the logo colours. Usually, the logo is designed before the uniform colour is chosen, which can cause problems.
Our top tip? Choose a uniform colour that makes your logo pop. Sometimes, the uniform style limits your colour options, so you might need to get creative. For example:
If your logo is mostly black, and your uniform is also black, switch the logo embroidery to white for contrast.
Alternatively, pick a lighter or darker shade of your logo’s main colour that complements the uniform.
Keep in mind, if you pick white uniforms, you’ll need to order 3-4 times more to keep them looking fresh and clean. It’s a bit of extra effort but worth it for a sharp, professional look.
2. Fabric Quality Can’t Be Ignored
Think about the kind of work your team does when choosing fabric. Flexibility, breathability, and durability are key factors. But don’t just settle for any fabric — quality matters.
Higher quality materials might cost a bit more upfront, but they pay off in the long run. Good fabric lasts longer, looks better, and makes your logo stand out beautifully. Plus, it helps maintain your business’s professional image and saves money by reducing the need for frequent replacements.
3. Embroidery Placement and Style
Last but not least, consider how your logo will look on the uniform. Some businesses prefer small logos on the front, others want a big logo on the back, or maybe on the sleeves. Think about whether you want to include your tagline too.
And here’s a golden rule: always choose embroidery over stickers or iron-on transfers. Embroidery lasts longer, looks more professional, and can handle the wear and tear of daily work better.
